On the coast, beaches range from small and secluded to long and luxurious, with sparkling clean water and pristine sand. The Hastings River, which meets the sea on Port Macquarie's doorstep, provides a wide range of holiday experiences from estuary fishing to water skiing, yachting and canoeing, to languorous scenic cruises to nature reserves where water-dragons and dolphins play.
